Meet the Listener: 5 AM Miracle Draws Dedicated Audience, Ambitious Consumers

October 6, 2016

Jeff Sanders is a morning person, maybe more so than most, but he believes that anyone can be an earlier riser to get the most out of their busy schedules. As a keynote speaker, author of the #1 Amazon best-selling book on productivity, and host of the 5 AM Miracle Podcast, Sanders’ secret to productivity is taking on the day well before breakfast.  Since its launch in 2013, his podcast has been downloaded over 3 million times by ambitious working professionals seeking ways to dominate their day and maximize their productivity in life and business. The show has established itself as a leader in its category, receiving accolades such as:

  • Ranked #1 in iTunes in the Self-Help and Business categories

  • Ranked #2 in Inc. Magazine’s Top 10 Productivity Podcasts for 2016

  • Nominated for 3 Podcast Awards: Best Produced  (2015), Health and People’s Choice (2016) and an Academy of Podcasters Award: Lifestyle and Health (2015)

A Targeted Audience:

The 5 AM Miracle targets the working professional in their 30s-40s with a desire to be healthy and productive amidst their busy lives. A recent survey on Jeff’s audience shows 32% are within the 30-39 age range, and 30% are in the 40-49 range, skewing female at 58%. The survey also reveals a very diverse audience with a wide range of professional backgrounds – from teachers, to lawyers, to self-made entrepreneurs. A naturally educated and affluent consumer, over 40% of listeners hold a bachelor’s degree, 38% have received their masters or doctorate, and 27% are earning over $120,000 per year.

How they listen:

Without a doubt these go-getters are strapped for time, but that doesn’t stop them from tuning into podcasts. 78% of respondents are consuming 2 or more podcasts a week, while a third of those are consuming 5 or more. They are listening on-the-go to keep up with their schedules, in the car (66%), at work (24%), or during their workout (44%). 5 AM listeners are loyal listeners too – just over half tune in every week and over a quarter have been following along since the podcast’s launch.

An Ideal Sponsor Environment:

Whatever the challenge may be – whether it’s taking the next step in a career, eating right, or better stress management – Jeff inspires his audience to achieve their grandest goals. Here’s what one of his listeners says about the podcast:

“After four decades of telling myself that I am not a morning person, I now wake up every day two-three hours earlier than I used to and absolutely love it. I am surprised at myself because I really thought that I hated mornings. I am amazed at how productive I have been in the past three weeks, due to listening to your podcast. I had no idea that making this change in my daily schedule could make such an important impact on my life.”

An overwhelming number of respondents (84%) turn to podcasts when it comes to learning new things, with 77% seeking business and productivity-related content. With this in mind, any advertiser with a product geared towards personal betterment, fitness, or professional services will truly resonate with this motivated audience.
